Common questions
My transactions aren’t importing.
Almost always one of three things:
- SMS permission is off. Profile → Bank SMS access shows the current state and walks you through turning it on. If Android has hidden the prompt (“Don’t ask again”), it opens Settings for you.
- The alert isn’t from a bank sender. Promotional senders and forwarded messages are ignored on purpose. Real alerts come from DLT headers such as
AD-HDFCBK-SorVM-ICICIB. - The format is new to us. Profile → Unread bank SMS formats lists shapes the parser could not read. Tap Send to WealthMonk and we add support — the shape goes with every digit, amount and name already stripped.
A transaction was read wrong (amount, merchant, or the wrong account).
Open it and edit — the correction sticks, and if you rename a merchant the app remembers your name for it next time. When a newer parser fixes a family of mistakes, affected rows are re-read automatically on the next sync; anything you edited by hand is left alone.
Why is my credit card not in my net worth?
Because it is a liability, not an asset. Cards are identified from the SMS itself and kept apart from deposit accounts. They appear under liabilities, and their statements under Bills and Card Health.
Why did my SIP not show as an expense?
Investments are excluded from spending by design — a SIP is money moving to future you. It is credited toward your net worth and FIRE corpus instead. You can change a transaction’s investment flag if the app got it wrong.
I marked a bill paid but it still shows.
Pull to refresh in Bills. If it persists, the payment was likely recorded against a different cycle (a statement date vs. a fixed due day); open the bill and check its payment history. Marking paid anywhere — Bills, the home card, Card Health — is one action, so it should never appear paid in one place and not another. If it does, that is a bug: please tell us.
Reminders aren’t arriving.
Check that notifications are allowed for WealthMonk in Android Settings, and that battery optimisation is not set to “restricted” for the app — some phones (notably Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme) kill background work aggressively. Reminders are scheduled with the OS three days before and on the due day.
Can I use it on two phones?
Yes — sign in with the same number. Transactions, bills and goals sync through your account. SMS capture runs on whichever phone has the permission; duplicates are prevented by fingerprint, so both can have it.
I lost my phone / changed my number.
Sign in on the new phone with your number; your data is in your account. If the number itself has changed, write to us from the email or number you signed up with and we will help you move the account. If you would rather start over, the deletion page explains both routes.
Is my data safe?
SMS are parsed on the device and never uploaded; the server holds only derived fields and a one-way digest. The local database is encrypted, the app can be locked with biometrics, and every server table is protected by row-level security. Full detail on the security page.
Does WealthMonk give financial advice?
No. Calculators, scores and insights are computed from your own numbers to help you think; they are not personalised investment advice. QuickMonk is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser and sells or distributes no financial product.
A bank we don’t read yet?
The parser covers every DLT-registered bank in India, but formats change. If yours is missed, the fastest fix is in the app: Profile → Unread bank SMS formats → Send to WealthMonk. We usually ship support within a release or two. You can also email a redacted sample — please replace every digit with 0 and remove names before sending.
